Ive had these character concepts and a story outline in the back of my notes for a while, and I think they would fit in perfectly here. I call them "SHIFTERS": furs who fell victim to radiation poisoning and had their bodies mutated as a result.
Most of these unlucky souls died off many years ago, but some gained both extraordinary looks and abilities. Because of these odd looks and potentially dangerous abilities, the Shifters are often victims of prejudice and pillaging while they are just trying to make a living for themselves.
I'd like to know what you guys think.

My first thought to this was that severe radiation poisoning isn't a thing in Cyden. The closest thing is the Aether permeating the world caused from an experimental bomb used in wars. To be certain, I re-read what I had posted on the subject before in the "What The Heck Is..." post under Getting Started. Turns out, there is no reason such a thing shouldn't exist...
"Aether Many wars were had in the history of Cyden. With wars comes new technology and new weapons. Aether is the result of mass bombings using at the time experimental technology. It was a type of radiation bomb, designed to irradiate an entire city or area to deathly levels. But it had an interesting side-effect. It generated charged particles and isotopes that free-floated through the air and spread around the world. At first, it was a terrible tragedy as people thought it was certainly going to give everyone radiation poisoning. But there were no incidents of it caused by this side effect of the bombings."
There is a little more there, but its on how the particles don't harm people and what they are used for. But those are a result of the bombings, not the actual bombs themselves. So logically speaking they could have been super terrible and maybe even caused people to change. They would have to be few and far between as a weapon shouldn't be designed to HELP the people you are using it on. It had to be something to slip between the cracks, so to speak. But when you are using it on an entire country I'm sure there are plenty of people for statistics to kick in. This would also give a reason for the dead lands of Cyden, the places where these bombs fell. Originally I figure we would have to pick a few places and just erase them from the map. But the idea of making them just grayed out zones with a warning label fits Cyden a whole lot more.
I will advise to be careful with powers. A lot of the stuff so far has been technology based (except for the Cursed Family, but we won't get into them here). It's a fine line between superpowers and tragedy. But I like the idea, honestly. It gives a purpose to a section of Cyden that was originally devoid of anything. Plus it gives options for storytelling and some character creation.

Thanks for the input, and you should be expecting some new entries in the "Characters" page.
