Species: Lesser Gryphon, or Gryph. Anthro in appearance.
Personality: Glaif does his best to be chearful, always attempting to smile despite his firm beak. He does have a darker side, though often does all he can to keep that to himself, retreating into his room or removing himself from people when he can no longer contain himself.
Body info: Glaif has coloration similar to that of a Eurasian Magpie. His scarred beak, square shoulders, firm arms and collarbone are all black. The remaining of his carved chest and firm abs are white while most of his back is also black with a small white wedge between his wings. His legs are black, even the small tufts of feathers covering his thighs.
Glaif’s build is similar to that of a swimmer, his muscles don’t bulge but are very well-defined. He has a rather nasty scar across the left side of his beak.
Glaif’s wings grow from his lower back, just above his tail and tail-feathers, His primaries all start black though each has white bands near the black tips of his feathers. As his secondary’s fade into his tertials they fade from a black to a glossy blue. His tail feathers have a similar gradient though fade from his spine outwards, becoming more of the glossy blue color the further from his body they grow. Glaif’s lion-esque tail possess the selfsame glossy color, shimmering blue when the light catches it right, the tuft at the end of his tail is white, dipped in black.
Glaif often wears a loose and thin white button up with long sleeves and a pair of short extensions to cover the beginnings of his wings Glaif prefers the lightweight and breathability over constant protection. He wears a set of form-fitting trousers, modified to allow room for his tail and tail-feathers. He normally wears his pair of swords strapped to his back across each other, the hilts pointing downward and held in place with two clasps so they won’t slide from their sheaths. Glaif carries a pair of rings on his tail, small enough to catch on his tuft but large enough to be easily removed when he needs. Glaif also carries a pair of gloves, one blessed by Crayw the other by Tchenchuru. The glove of Crayw is blessed to confuse his foes and the glove of Tchenchuru is to witness of the malignant god’s wrath and destructive power. The rings are religious symbols he wears to remind him of his home and the god he worships The ring closest to his tuft is used when he prays over food and the one furthest offers him protection from the wrath of Tchenchuru and other malignant deities.
Equipment
The ring closest to the tuft at the end of Glaif’s tail pulls any harmful radiation from his food and stores it in the second as Aether
The ring furthest from the tuft at the end of Glaif’s tail offers him slight protection from electromagnetic radiation, a form of ‘sunscreen’
The glove of Crayw is used to create projections, the more complex the projetion the more Glaif needs to focus to hold it’s complexity. Glaif will often use this when in hand to hand combat by creating flashes of light.
The glove of Tchenchuru is very insulated and converts Aether into heat. Glaif will use this to damage the equipment of his foes, push through objects like glass or use it to weaken metal. He has also been known to use it in more practical means like starting a fire or cooking his food.
Weight: 180 on his home world and 112.5 here on earth
Height: 6’4 3/4”
Wingspan: 12'9 1/2"
Name: Glaif Yw
Age: 443.5 on his home world, about 21 in earth years.
Sex: Glaif identifies as male
Location:Glaif took a particular liking to SoCal, more specifically the edges of the cities where more of the flora might grow in abundance. He works to build a home after the fashion of his homeworld, a very large and complex weave of water reeds, though he lacks the main building material that grew in abundance and so hunts for substitutes and other methods of construction.
Abilities
Outside of his equipment Glaif can fly short distances, he is more top heavy than the birds of earth since his wings grow from his lower half instead of near his shoulders and so is unable to fly any impressive distance.
Glaif is rather adept when using his swords, often alternating between holding them in his hands and feet in battle.
(Tentatively) Infrared vision, Glaif can use this to detect and track most living beings with this ability even at night, making it rather useful for exploring dark areas or for when someone needs to deliver a secret message without pen or paper.
Job: Glaif kept doing what he was accustomed to, entertaining, though now it's much less life threatening.
Background: Before Glaif came to Earth he was an entertainer of sorts. He fought in an arena near the hub for the entertainment of all who would witness, it paid well enough and he was able to buy his way onto a ship set for this solar system. Here on earth he is much more tame, leaning more towards an architect as a career path.
Glaif was a gladiator, of sorts, on his home planet. He fought in an arena located inside the central trade hub, and so was awarded with winnings after each battle. He disliked the career, having to fight to earn wages, the beggars did just that, fighting over any coin tossed their way. Glaif disliked the life he led. But he never even thought about changing it till he overheard the opportunities given to those who came to Earth. Glaif gathered as much money as he could and managed to purchase a seat on a ship leaving for the location of this god’s home. Once on Earth he was rather disappointed, the world he had hoped to be full of opportunity and life seemed to have suffered a similar fate to his own, looking to being the battle grounds between two all-powerful beings that all but obliterated the planet. Glaif found a spot that wasn’t covered in metal and had at least a splash of color before settling in, he managed to construct a small two bedroom home on some land no one had claimed just outside Apple Town. Glaif was satisfied with his given path and enjoys watching the tide rush in, the only part of Earth that reminds him of home.
