James looked at the forty dollars in his hand then at the note in the other. Buy a lottery ticket with the numbers 17, 27, 42, 66, 69 and 91 on them.
Take the winnings and buy a single ticket for the next week with the same numbers. Ask (your) Dad to buy twenty dollars of stock from Zero Zw chemicals, and twenty in Comp. America Ltd. Put half the remainder in your savings in a few days and spend the last twenty for fun. Type up a letter for the broker as follows.....
James unlocked his bike and rode from school to the bank. The twenty he had was as much as his mother made in a day before taxes were taken out.
He thought about the hand written note and was amused that whoever had given him the three out of six numbers he needed for the small win. Whoever had written it had fixed a mistake by adding "your" in front of Dad.
Several times he had a feeling of deja vu. He would accidentally walk into the wrong classroom in school and recognize the teacher, the subject and even the students as if he had been going to that class for weeks. He got the nickname of "The wandering student" by the teachers because he could answer questions about the course. One time the instructor noticed that he was distracted by the book he was reading and handed him a test with the rest of the students. He got a B- on the final of a class he had not taken and seemed to not notice.
Time went on and the mystery notes continued. Some were simple, buy this on this day sell that on that day. One of the biggest was "Sell all these stocks on this day and buy gold stock with the money. Sell it in this many days." Even the broker was surprised by this as gold was regulated at a certain price and would only climb over the long term. Then gold was deregulated and the price skyrocketed. In days the value went from a few hundred thousand to millions James sold when the time came but the price kept going up. Later he discovered that his selling before the price topped out kept him from being investigated by the government.
Advice continued although he never again got a huge windfall. Some truly odd things such as buy this land out in the country but do not get electricity to it, Rent the equipment and build a bomb shelter and stock it with these items and put a second hand trailer over the entrance. If anyone asks it is your "mancave" or "hunting shack" and put nothing of real value in it. It will be broken into several times and is a distraction from what is really there.
Prelude page one, Comments and criticism welcome. This takes place in Wa state U.S.A. and will probably mess with a few story lines but we all have to start somewhere.

Okay so this is the Marines. At least I have not made enemies of my drill instructor or anyone else. I've been singled out as being the only one who prepared for a life in the marines but I know it is not true. At least half of the people here have tried to do a reasonable amount of preparing but my notes have had me working up to this for a few years at least, waiting until I'm 21 rather than as soon as I could at 17. I am stronger and faster than most as well as better coordinated and a WAY better shot. I expect that others will catch up soon but for now I've been accused of "Being a Marine in a previous life." My memories include a lot of things but being a Marine is not one of them. I still am not sure what to make of them. My memories that is. I 'remember' doing several things and getting several outcomes. For example on my twentieth birthday I remember I remember being in a car wreck, having a grand time with several friends, sitting and reading a book as well as several other things that happened that day. The problem is none of these memories show up until the day happens. For this day I remember being in college. Several times in fact each with a different major subject and doing well. I also remember being in the Navy and Army. Sometimes these things appear as things I remember doing, other times as skills I may or may not need. My knowledge of the Colt 1911 is impressive as I as able to point out several defects in the practice pistols we were given to work with. The drill instructor took this as a challenge and stopped the class, had everyone disassemble the weapons they were working on and back away from the bench. He then challenged me to find a weapon that passed my inspection. I moved from station to station finding parts that were not too worn out and put together what I considered a serviceable 1911. "All of the firing pins have been safetied but other than that this should work for at least two clips, it will shoot to the left though."
