Name: Leonard
Species: Felis silvestris catus, Domestic Cat
Breed: Mixed, mostly Maine Coon
Sex: Male
Age: 29 years
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 196 lbs.
General Appearance: Tall, thin (with a bit of a gut), longer black and white fur.
Apparel: Variable, with one exception. Almost always wears a lab coat.
Personality: Intelligent, methodical, creative, slightly distracted, sometimes unpredictable, emotional.
Location: Ruins on the Southern end of the Empire Corridor (point of surfacing); before that, underground in the same location; currently nomadic.
Powers/Abilities: High intelligence level, quick learner, can invent necessary devices on the fly using "spare parts" (read "junk").
Gear: Toolbox with a "compressed space" interior (technically larger on the inside than on the outside).
Job: Currently, none. Formerly, an inventor.
Background: Leonard is an anthropomorphic cat born near the end of the twentieth century in the Mid-Atlantic area of the United States. Intelligent from the start, he tended to be top of his class all through school, tending more toward the sciences. In fact, because of this, he discovered his unique gift for invention. He ended up digging a vast underground laboratory where he did most of his inventing. He used this gift to earn what income he made off his inventions, but he always kept his most advanced projects to himself, constantly adjusting until they were perfect.
Then, one day, he saw a news report that changed his life forever. In a turn of events that perfectly paralleled a song predicting the end of the world, he knew e had to act. No one around him would believe him, so he went alone to a secret stairway in his lab that wound downwards for a good distance, terminating at a door. Behind that door was a bunker with a number of precautionary measures installed. A small fusion reactor was partitioned off from the main bunker, powering a bank of computers that were to gather information about the state of things "above". The entire bunker was enclosed in a Faraday cage apparatus to disperse energy that could fry essential circuits. But the most essential parts of this assembly were the self-built "cryo-pods" stationed against one wall, enough for his family and significant other, if they had believed him. He settled into one of the pods after setting basic parameters for when to ease him out of his state of suspended animation ("After the approaching wars"), and let his metabolism slow with the lowering of the temperature.
A few centuries later (Post-Aether War), the system finally eased him out of "cryo-sleep". The bunker was far enough underground and protected well enough that everything in it was safe from anything that could have happened. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the sensors used by the information-gathering computers, so after a certain point, the stream of information just cut out and remained offline. Leonard decided to head up and take a look around after a bit, and upon reaching the surface, he was faced with ruins of the city that had been built over his hometown. He had to move on and find his place in this new, greatly unfamiliar world.
Visuals of the subject to arrive soon.
