Right, I'm far too tired and need to go to bed, if I have time later I'll go through and make it make more sense tomorrow. or clarify in another post.
So, I know we're kind of doing this without an official reference.
but with most development of things being in the general discussion, and a lot of world Suggestions not actually fitting the criteria to go into the suggestion branch >..<
until we have a more in-depth branching to sort this out.
might it not be a good idea to have some official labels to stick in the Subject line?
Like, unofficially we have 'World Suggestion:' for submitting location ideas... primarily, it's sort of also used for, well, world suggestions >..< ...and we have ...actually it's only been used once but I'm intending to use it so... 'Technology suggestion:' for techy things.
but a lot of things don't have a label of some kind on them.
also I'm too tired to try and formulate flowing sentences that make sense so here's me arguing to myself about it.
Pro:
It can be targeted by the search function.
Lets people know what it is easily/ what to expect
Lets the poster show what kind of input is wanted/prefured and how much progress they've made
I'm not familiar with this hosting server but it would probably make it easier to move stuff latter should you decide you need more subsections later
Cons:
it requires memorizing?
and people reading stuff I guess...
I'd say having people go back and change stuff but I don't think that a thing that's needed. We're here to have fun, not create a rule book.
Ok, so, I'm not saying we need a label for everything, nor do we need a long list. this is something that can be mostly done piece meal.
ok, So basicly we have two lists. A 'subject' (S) list and a... type (T) list idk?
Subjects are things like: world, location, technology, organization, um... material, aliens e.c.t
The other list is: suggestion, concept um... and maybe submissions.
order also maters. basically S T means one thing while T S means another.
So, S T indicates a more global thing or an addition to Lore or something everyone kinda needs a hand in. T S is more localized.
I do realize some subject points don't translate to both very well but they have an alternate that does.
e.g. World suggestion = something relevant to most things or lore, while Suggestion World would probably be a planet. Technology suggestion = tech found everywhere (aether, hardlight) while Suggestion Tech = Tech belonging to a specific place.
Subject I don't think I really need to explain, plus it's something liable to be added to over time
Type:
Concept: I have an idea, does it fit or is it dumb/ I need other peoples input for this to be a thing.
Suggestion: I have over 50% of an idea/ draft and want input from other people or questions.
Submission: It's a complete package that is (theoretically) balanced, Mods/Zaezar can this be official? (I'm not saying this is need, but I think it'd be nice to have a way say 'I'm done with this, is it acceptable' alternative you can have something telling people to poke you when they think they have finished thing)
Ok, I want to be clear, I don't think people need / be forced to go through all three stages, as it's more of a progress thing. that said, if you go with having Submission then I'd say people have to go at lest through Submission first because this is a community thing and submissions are directed more so to mods, in fact I'd recommend a separate subsection.
I realize having to submit means people will need to go over everything again and adds extra work to all involved, however, it means new people don't need to scroll through a qna to learn everything and that we can have a more concise spot. I am aware you have a list but at the same time other than that these things are being swomped in general discustion
Also, I'm not saying something can't be used until it's been submitted and accepted (though I'd recommend against using concept stuff) and not everything needs to be submitted ether. And things can be subjected to change.
Ok, I've lost my train of thought but I think that's it.
