I don't think we have any Orwellian style places yet. I'm honestly surprised it never came to my mind at all. I just designed New London to be politically oppressive in the sense that no one CAN get to a higher level, rather than the government is active in it. I approve greatly. The government system lends itself really well to both a superpower in the global scale (if anyone wants to pick a fight in their stories) or an oppressive opposition on a personal level (someone personally rebelling ala The Book Thief). So a lot of options open up with that alone. Its also nice to see people actually being able to have FUN in their own bubbles. In other places its pretty much just sadness and death. Here you can have games and entertainment? That's a first. Even if it only just works for their favor. If you like the movies then YOU ARE IN FOR A FUN TIME* *Any wrong ideas will be met with the swiftest of punishments. Wrong ideas include "This is not fun" "I wish I weren't here" "Our Leader is not great" "The donuts here aren't that great" or any relevant thoughts. The tech lends itself is kinda leaning away from Cyberpunk a little. Nothing wrong with utilitarian designs, but it would really be out of place going from one of the other places to here. That may be something you are aiming towards, and its totally something you can do. But try to include some known tech from other areas into here and it might help solidify it into the Cyden world better. Maybe have modified Aether batteries so it will work in the "Dieselpunk" items. Or use the batteries in an obvious way for the combat mechs or other military equipment. Something can be said for them "not wanting to use the enemy technology!" but that's not saying they can't modify it to their specifications. The Aether system is supposed to be really powerful when put into the proper applications. I don't think they would just ignore that entirely. I can totally see how they would treat predators as the primary people here. Why not have anything other then strength in such a world? Though I would say that its not humans that messed up the world. There were humans, yes, but it was certainly a group effort that f*cked it all up. No need to limit who can join project Cyden! That being said, I can absolutely see it being what they are telling their citizens. "LOOK AT WHAT THESE HUMANS DID! SCUM!" All that propaganda. If that is what you had intended, then ignore me I just misunderstood it haha. What the heck does that Other mean? Hey, explain it better will ya! I got to link to these things when I update the "Places that exist" Thread. Or make that on the next update

I got to link to these things when I update the "Places that exist" Thread. Or make that on the next update Superpower: Well, the Wolfklaue Regime has to always have enemies so that their BRAVE GLORIOUS SOLDIERS CAN PROTECT WORKING CLASS CITIZENS LIKE YOU. WORK HARDER TO THANK OUR BOYS IN BLUE AND GLORIOUS LEADER ALPHA ENGEL.Fun: Well, you have to keep the sheeple in line some way that doesn't involve blowing away your working class with your awesome combat mechs. Also, Thank Glorious leader Alpha Engel, as they have raised the donut ration to 20 grammes from 25 grammes.Tech: I specifically left power sources and what not vague so that the underlying technology could be cyberpunk, but the aesthetic would mostly be dieselpunk. Predators: I totally meant it as propaganda... I may have also mis-read some things. HUMAN LIES.Other: You don't know of our glorious leader Alpha Engel? That's certainly double-plus un-good! You're due for re-education, citizen. (It was a "Big Brother is watching you" reference) See, I was suspicious of it being a Big Brother situation. I really had no idea why I had even questioned it haha. You certainly have the tone down set. So how about the buildings? Still super utilitarian? Or maybe they have a bit of flair to them so they can stand out a bit in a skyline for setting drawings? Something I had forgotten to mention above. I understand its the future and "New Berlin" is a fitting name. But its mighty confusing to have "New London" and "New Berlin." At least I originally called it just London. Other people added the New so I just kept it. Its a minor gripe and it also seems a little petty (I wanna be the only new one! *Stomps foot*). Plus I feel like there are more fitting names that we can make. New London works because it was literally build up from London. They just kept raising it up and up. For Berlin, if they are just modifying what they have or replacing it with more powerful versions. howabouts something like "Great Berlin","The Berlin Power", or "Machtlin" for power. I don't know how much you like the name New Berlin so its only a couple suggestions. I still feel like we can come up with something really clever that also helps signify the power they perceive themselves to have. Like, "We are better than Berlin! We are..." type of situation here.

I like it. Its a nice callback to the Reich and early dictatorships (though I think I should of used something other than "nice"!)and gives us a depressing dictatorship that is sure to come about in this kind of scenario. The idea of predators being the "superior race" is an interesting touch too. Perhaps predation on weak herbivores is encouraged or practised by the privileged? The 7 feet tall Muskelverfolgung Technologie give it a badass Wolfenstein vibe too (Is that a Frau Engel reference at the end???) and makes it sound like the martial law is certainly imposing. Does the 7th reich have any other forms of combat tech? I think exo-armour that grants infantry a slight boost in strength as well as durability for the Reich's gaurds would be nice as they go around with their MP888s. I can also imagine Horten 229-esque aircraft performing patrols over the grey sprawl of concrete alongside military VTOLS. Overall, pretty good!

You could always build a wall and call all inside Central Berlin and all outside the wall Lesser or Outer Berlin. The wall is to "Protect the citizens from the barbarian hordes who are jealous of Central Berlins prosperity."and has razor wire on both the outside and inside. Inside wire is "To prevent infiltrators from stealing from the citizens and escaping with their gains." Outsiders may refer to the whole thing as The New Berlin Wall or just New Berlin. The city could be cut apart with railroad tracks. Any who control the trains can get all over and in and out of the city. This would make taking personal cars or wheeled vehicles a liability rather than an asset. High voltage to run the trains would make crossing the tracks at other than designated crossings dicey at best. I also could see an updated blimp or zeppelins hovering over the city as advertising/indoctrination platforms as well as being able to see what is below. They would also make sweet weapons platforms as they can sit in one spot in the air without using a lot of power.
Just a thought.

chezmarinewait wait wait wait wait. Only accessible by train. Totally remade government. Sees itself as superior. Can we make this the site of one of the Aether bombings? Hear me out. Literally make it a massive crater, possibly filled with water now. Surround it with a small ring of mountains from the kicked up earth. Now have a group of survivors from the bombings, right? They see themselves as superior because they LIVED FROM A WORLD SHAKING BOMB. In their fights to survive you have the carnivores "winning" and seeing the weaker ones as not worth wasting time on. That can explain the prejudice canonically. When they finally get something back together they rebuild right where their homeland was. They try to keep to the old ways as best they can (no place like home, right?) but adapt to what they have learned and were forced to experience. Their tech is Utilitarian because they HAD to make it that way. No wasted resources were allowed. When they finally got to a more civilized level it was already filled with hate towards weaker peoples and they had justification for it, no matter how wrong it would have been. To enter the newformed crater city you need to enter via the tunnels they build for the trains. That, or climb the mountains and go down a COUNTRY SIZED ravine to get to the city. You don't need extreme walls for that anymore. Most people will end up using the trains. Boom, justification for that as well. The tech could have advanced super quickly in this direction from the bombs leaving a large amount of Aether in the air for a long time. Maybe even have it settle a bit in the crater. So their tech is literally more efficient because its built with an excess of fuel and they researched it a lot more. This idea would also cement the city in Cyden's timeline. And its not unreasonable to see a superpower that was "threatening" during the wars to just get nuked to high hell. Causing a total reset and forcing them to adopt a new way of life. Opinions?

LOVE. IT. I am so stealing this. The society before them that was a threat could be the 6th Reich of Germany, (I'll leave the 4th and 5th up to anyone to fill in the blanks of history, and the 6th will be most likely be vague.) It also makes sense from the source material I'm borrowing from all involved a nuclear war (1984s global thermonuclear war that happened sometime in the 50s and The New Order's Nuclear conclusion to WWII), and gives insight into The Wolfklaue's hatred for everything that's not them. "GODDAMMMIT. ANOTHER FREAKING BOMB?!" Glad you like it. We needed to start setting the impact sites for the Aether bombs. This one could very well be the most interesting one! Can't wait to see it developed a bit more. Feel free to steal it haha

I'm still working on buildings, but I'm thinking great big buildings with small concrete Windows and things like art deco aquilas or lions and statues of our glorious leaders. As for the name, New Berlin is a working title, I'm thinking Stromschnellen (German for Rapids, as Berlin seems to have come from a Slavic word for River/lake) I like it. Its a nice callback to the Reich and early dictatorships (though I think I should of used something other than "nice"!)and gives us a depressing dictatorship that is sure to come about in this kind of scenario. I can also imagine Horten 229-esque aircraft performing patrols over the grey sprawl of concrete alongside military VTOLS. Overall, pretty good! Yes, the idea for this section of the world was highly influenced by Wolfenstein the New Order and 1984, and Alpha Engel is a mixture of big brother and Frau Engel (She's even a Hyena so she has that horrible bone chilling laugh.) Ooh, I like the idea of the most privileged carnivores secretly dining on silenced individuals. also the canned meat rations may not be entirely composed of the feral counterparts of the animal on the tin, or the animal on the tin at all. The Wolfklaue Regime/7th Reich has much more combat tech than their mechs, I just wanted to get the basic idea for the world out before I went more in-depth with technology and what not. They definitely have modernized versions of the Fa 223 and Ho 229 patroling the skies, various Panzer models, and exoskeletons like the one shown on my picture of Ashtek here projectcyden.boards.net/thread/81/ashtrek-hemokenetic-gun-runnerKeep an eye on this thread, I'll be updating it as a make stuff up. Nice. I loved the New Order and I think this sounds great. I'd love to chat more with you, maybe come up with more about the world and its weapons, people and organisation together. And Hyena Alpha Engel sounds fantastic! Is there a hyena Bubi too? Maybe it could be something for the upper classes and Military elite to partake in? Dining on anthro flesh in their extravagant but utilitarian dining rooms. Maybe they could have exoskeletons and mechs for civilian and military life? As well as large floating zeppelins that secretly concealed 88mm batteries as well as SAM defences that hover over the city? I can also see plenty of room for genetically engineered super soldiers forced into exosuits to use against any rebellions should they take place.

I had the idea for a responce thanking you for the ideas, then my brain just went blank when I actually got into writing it. Since multiple people have suggested Zeppelins, I'm going to throw them in. There are civilian models of the Exosuits used for construction and what not, though they're usually only trusted to GLORIOUS PREDATOR SPECIES since they're expensive. They're also completely open cockpit (Think Aliens Power Loader) so using them for resistance would be pretty stupid against the much better equipped BSK MTs and Super Soldiers. I'd imagine the Military MT's to resemble the SuperSoldaten of Wolfenstein or look similar to these but holding large scale 30mm rotary cannons, 2 pounder automatic weapons or similar Mech-sized weapons: store.warlordgames.com/collections/konflikt-47/products/allied-coyote-guardian-light-walkerstore.warlordgames.com/collections/konflikt-47/products/us-mudskipper-jump-walkerstore.warlordgames.com/collections/konflikt-47/products/allied-grizzly-medium-walkerHave you planned out what weapons our glorious defenders use to keep us lower classes safe?
